Current theory dictates that newly forming stars (F, G, K
M stars under 2 Solar masses) are temporarily classified as T-Tauri stars during a phase before they enter the main sequence. The first star identified to be at this stage was T-Tauri, hence the name. During the T-Tauri stage, stars are extremely active and variable, but do not undergo nuclear reactions in their cores until they enter the main sequence. They are driven by gravitational collapse (the K-H contraction mechanism). The winds generated by T-Tauri stars are theorised to be strong enough to stimulate production of warm water vapour in the nebulae around them.

They were thinking "possibly" ice. It was inside a crater at the bottom, and as such would have never seen sunlight. The most likely answer is however sulfur.

I commented frequently to this kid that, according to simple math, using current numbers, the sun should live 13 billion years before running out of hydrogen. Hmmmm.. kinda close estimate, isn't it ?

indian---actually my previous post was humor aimed at some of our more impressionable folks.I suspect that the oldest area is buried and gets exposed from time to time,as when they found fused glass from a comet impact dating to King Tut:dated by using radioactive isotope assay/half-life comparison.What they checked was Iridium,I believe.
