He was lucky Thomas hadnt learned his trade yet. You know a peak hearns would never let him get away with this and lucky it wasnt a young Terry norris or it's goodby title.

1234c, i remember sitting as kid trying to count those combinations, then practicing the same. lol. no one in the ring has, as of yet today, done anything remotely similar to what Leonard did to Hearns in that round. (Rd.11) and even today, still, hearns is mad over he loss to leonard. i remember seeing an interview earlier this year where hearns was asking ray for another fight. i just shook my head. hell never get over the ass whipping leonard handed him in his prime. lol

actually no. hearns was outboxing ray. ray just caught him in the 6th and hurt hearns, exposing him. and then in the 11th he pummeled him, but between those rounds hearns was outboxing ray all day.

Frazier gave Ali another fight didnt he? And Ali beat him. Same with Louis and Schmeling. Like Tommy, Joe was only 22 at the time. I doubt you're going to find anyone claiming Joe was in his prime and so it is the same with Tommy. Anyways, the real reson ray didnt give a rematch is because he feared losing the rematch and knowing the damaging effect it would have on his rep, he waited a full 8 yrs after Tommy was losing one fight after another ie; Barkley, Kinchen.

You're barking up the wrong tree here. I'm not nearly as impressed by Tommy's credentials as you. He was quite green at the time; didnt know the first thing about clinching. a talented fighter with a long reach and 1 big win (cuevas) but who else? in fact one of his defenses was ranked so low-Baez, that he needed last minute emergency top 10 ranking for the fight to get sanctioned by WBC.

If ray were to impress me he'd have to beat the likes of Norris; young, fast, hungry. He didnt do that LH81. Even if Terry were favored to win, Ray should have beat him and upset the odds to impress the public. In reality, Ray was favored to win. he was favored 3-1 and STILL couldnt win! He was shut out! Trampled! raped! Butt fucked! And you expect ME to be impressed by this man?!? Are you crazy!?! Even on his best day he wouldnt stand a chance with Terry. You know it's true.

it was the end of his career cuz Terry ended it. in fact, Ray was at the same stage of his carrer that Duran was when he beat Ray- 14 yrs professional except that Roberto won his fight and Leonard lost his then retired.
I cant just take your word that someone like terry would lose to Ray after the way he threashed him. Terry would always be too fast for him. But if you have any proof of it I'd like to see it. Got proof? Didnt think so.

It was the end of his career because he had been boxing as a professional for 14 years at that point and as an amateur probably 10 years prior to that.. When he lost to Norris, he was not in his prime. In his prime, he would have beaten Norris. Norris was nothing special, and only got such a high profile win due to opportunity and luck. If that opportunity had of come a few years prior to that, his career wouldn't have looked so stellar.

Duran was a professional for 14 years and two divisions above normal for him when he faced and beat Sugar ray. Why does Ray get a break and Duran doesn't? Why does Ray get credit for beating a lightweight but Norris wont get credit for beating a legend that hadnt lost in 11 yrs? You seriously need to think about that friend, otherwise you're setting double standards that arent fair to Norris and Duran.
Amateur records dont count either.

When you go about making a claim such that Leonard in his prime could beat Norris you have to prove it. This is the real world son and nobdy is expected to take anyone's word for anything. Just hoping I take you at your word will never do, especially after the way Terry mastered ray and beat ray at his own game-BOXING. How to go about doing it? That's YOUR problem! the way I see it, SRL was winning and as long as he was winning, why believe the washed up claim? Unless that's what you WANT me to believe.
Fact: Ray went 11 years no losses. Fact: Ray won his last fight VERY convincingly, displaying effortless footwork
combinations and footwork for 12 rounds straight. If you want me to believe ray was washed up, he shouldnt have whipped Duran so covincingly, should've struggled in part or stand flatfooted for a good part of the match.

Sean, don't waste your time watching Leonard-Hearns if you hope to learn anything about boxing-unless you like Hearns that is. it's just one guy following another around the ring trying to land haymakers and taking jabs coming in and little skill.
You can look at Holmes-Butterbean if that's what your after. Why anyone wasted their money watching this fight live is beyond me. i've seen both Leonard-Hearns 1 and 2 on the same tape which I picked up at the 99 cent store
