Muse - House of the Rising Sun

PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING YOURSELF LOOK DUMB:
Ok I've had enough of these stupid comments and repeated conversations.
NO ONE knows who wrote House of the Rising Sun. No, it wasn't the animals nor bob dylan. It's much older than that. The Animals version is considered definitive and I myself consider it to be the best. Pink Floyd did not cover it. Thats a Floyd cover band called Fridged Pink. this song was av
ailable on a compilation album called "1 Love" which was released by an organization called War Child.

I like modern covers. But this is a post modern not cool guitar effect. And Muse does have a nice guitarist and singer. But I really did not liked they destroyng this song which marked the 60ies with The Animals and Dylan version. Indie Eletro Post-Punk is kinda cocainegay but it's allright. Not in classics versions though.

I really love this cover, imo Muse covers have always been great. My fav band defo. And Leodn they're usually referred to as "Alternative" genre, not "Indie Eletro Post-punk" genre, whatever that is
.
Anyways we should be debating how Alexandra Burke from X-factor ruined Leonard Cohen's Hallejuah :'( (Seen both Muse and LC IRL;D)

check out Woody Guthrie who sings original lyrics attributed to Georgia Turner in a 1941 document. It's 'as old as the hills' and was handed down from generation to generation, probably on a front porch in the Apalachian hills. But it never was The Animals, Bob Dylan or even Woody Guthrie's.

The earliest recorded version dates back to 1932 by Clarence 'Tom' Ashley as 'Rising Sun Blues', and it was recorded again in 1934 by The Callahan Brothers as 'Rounder's Luck'. With the evolution of folk music in the 1940s and 1950s, the song went through numerous incarnations, by such notable singers as Josh White, Huddie 'Leadbelly' Ledbetter, Pete Seeger and Woodie Guthrie. As the 1960s rolled around, both Joan Baez and Bob Dylan made a stab at recording the song Just so u know

Dave Van Ronk wrote the most well-known arrangement of this song as we know it today, which Dylan recorded on his 1962 self-titled debut. Eric Burdon and The Animals recorded it soon after. The original version is composed of a different chord progression which is in the key of d minor. The version we all know and love is in a minor.
